Typography and Tim Hortons
I’ve been working on a typeface for my Expressive Typography class. It has to be hand drawn and the final product should be a display typeface which has its roots in your own handwriting. Mine at the moment is kind of a cross between my handwriting, art deco typography and postmodern geometry. It looks cool, but I am kind of regretting going with the pin-stripe thing. Hand drawing lines at 1mm intervals can get pretty mind-numbing. In between drawing letterforms I seem to increasingly be visiting Tim Hortons, the iconic Canadian coffee shop. I don’t know who Tim Horton is, but there seems to be one of him on every street corner. Although the coffee itself is quite terribleĀ the doughnuts on the other hand are pretty damn addictive when you need a sugar kick as I so badly do at the moment. But get this - they are only 90 cents here! And it doesn’t even matter if you want a plain one or one with an extravagant filling - all under a dollar. You wouldn’t even be able to get half a doughnut back home for that. I like the Boston Cream ones. Dangerous…
